Big list of blogs I like
Oct 6, 2014
I don't have time to write a proper post right now so here is a big list of some of my favourite blogs. I use Feedly as my RSS reader and save longer articles to Pocket for later reading.
Programming
- Smashing Magazine: Lots of in-depth front end web design articles
- CSS-Tricks: As the name suggests, lots of great CSS tricks
- The Daily WTF: Very funny stories about how software design can go horribly wrong
- Coding Horror: Great blog about programming and software design, its advice helped shape this blog
- Code inComplete: Small blog about JavaScript games and other programming stuff
- Neovim: A Vim re-write attempt, looks very promising
Tech
- Ars Technica: My favourite "general technology" blog, lots of in-depth articles too
- Hacker News: Great startup and tech articles (the regular feed is a bit spammy so here is a link to an RSS feed for just the best articles)
- Narrative Blog: Blog for the Narrative Clip camera but also has some other great self-tracking articles
- Paul Graham's Blog: Been around for ages, archives are great and still has some good new posts on startups and things
Other
- James Clear: Plenty of great advice on habit forming
- Study Hacks: Advice on deep work and how to have a satisfying career (I can also recommend his book)
- Seth Godin's Blog: Frequent short but well written posts on marketing
- You Are Not So Smart: Some brilliantly written articles on psychological biases (check the archives)
- The Ancient Wisdom Project: The author is in the process of choosing one of the major religions to follow for a month and writing about what he learns
- Less Wrong: A community blog about the art of human rationality
- Minding our way: Some excellent posts on rationality and mental models
- Dr. Bunsen: Occasional very interesting articles about statistics, Vim and other things
- David R. MacIver: Just a blog by a guy who's interested in similar things to me
- xkcd: The best web comic ever
- Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal: The second best web comic ever
